alot of things are claiming to be HD at the moment, but a resolution of 480 x 800 is good for an in car dvd player But hardly HD as the minimum to be HD is technicaly 720 x 1280 allowing for reproduction of 720 progresive and 1080 interlaced source material with full HD being 1080 x 1920 and 2K being 2043 x 1080.

I think it's about time manufacturers started putting higher resolution screens in these units. 480 x 234 is paltry for a 7" screen. My mobile phone has 480x800 and it must be a 3" screen at the most...
