Default Still not working

Did a master re set today, still not working
Took the sat nav out off boot to check the connections, all was in and no loss wires
The green power light did flicker a couple of times but then died

Would like to get it working again even if I have to buy another unit off e bay, but am not sure if it will work again after I replace the sat nav in the boot, will the problem likley to be in the radio end rather than the boot end

It does sound as if it might be the nav computer thats at fault, can you get any display from it at all in the dash, if so we could check a few things in it's service mode.

But if not, there is a new Low Line Nav computer on ebay at the mo for £75

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-ZT-ROVER-75...1%7C240%3A1318

For that price, it might be worth a punt, even if only to have a spare for the future.

The one for sale is a Mark III, if it looks like the one you already have, it's a straight swap

But if your current one looks like this:

then it's a Mark II, and just needs a simple re-plug of a cable round the back, before your up and running.

But it's a very easy job to do.

Default Sat nav

Hi
Get no display at all from the sat nav, will not turn on or off, no power lights even come on at all, the disc keeps going in and out every now and then, its the mark 111 I have fitted in car

Have ordered a new one off e bay for £75, am hoping that will fix it or I will be re listing it on here as item for sale LOL

Suppose it has not done bad for 7 years, am hoping that the cd/radio system does not pack up next

Will keep you posted when I received and have fitted the new unit

Do I need to do anything before I fit the new one, Or do I just take the old one out and re fit the new one?

You should take the old one out when lights have fully gone out.
But if unit is faulty won't make a lot of difference.
Then just swap over leads.
They have securing type mech on them you just lift up the black lever and pull out plug.

The Lo Line uses a different Sat Nav Computer to the Hi Line MK3 (its Black and white for starters).

Default Sat nav

Hi John

Thanks for your advise, the old one is not shutting down, the power light does not come on at all, the ejeck light is the only light on and it keep spitting the cd in and out every now and then

Am I right in thinking that the unit in the boot(Sat nav) powers the sat nav on the radio/cd unit?

It just did not work without any warnings

Suppose the owner before me could of used it all the time, car is 7 years old now with just over 85000 miles on clock, am due a cam belt service soon

Just unplug it then when ready to swap over.
Also check that no water or damp has got to Sat Nav Computer.
Sometimes its possible for a leak to come through side trim.
If a Boot mount unit check for water ingress from Rear Lamp light clusters into Wheel well.
Tell tale signs are white marks, Rusty aerial Connector or just feeling damp if very bad.

Default Sat nav

Have had the water in the spare wheel part about 4/5 cms LOL

This was when I picked the car up, My guess that the dealer had used a pressure washer and that was the reason for the water

After reading and searchin on here about water in the boot, was quite concerned, so was chcking under the boot carpet every day LOL

Was a little bit of water getting in so I striped out the rear lights and reversed the washers and cleaned around then re fitted, am waiting on new seals for the rear lights, will then do a better job

Was a little bit of water marks around the seals and a lot of grit/sand am sure they they are letting a bit of water in but not for much longer

Am waiting for the new sat nav unit to come now and I will keep you posted as if I have fixed it or not

The new unit came this afternoon

Took the old one out and looked around for any water leaks, did not see any signs of any

Connected the new unit and it worked, power light went on, pushed back into place

put the disc back into it, it powered up from the main unit from the radio/cd, the display unit worked as well as the power on

Many thanks for your advise on here guys was well wirth the £75 off e bay

Excellent news, you did well to get the new nav computer for £75, right place at the right time.

Glad I was able to steer you in the right direction.

All the best, and happy wandering
