Default Fitting A Kenwood KDC-M6021G

Just a quick question about fitting this.

I've managed to source one of these, to fit my 2002 MG ZT+, which I believe used to be the top optional unit for this car.

Now my car has the steering wheel controls on it, which don't work with the current JVC unit that's in the car, do I need to purchase any additional wiring to make these work when I fit the Kenwood unit, or will it be already there please?

Hi Mark,

I'm no ICE genius, elektrickery frightens the life outta me but from what I have read, IIRC, the MG has the infra red connection, the led is situated under the eyebrow, above the radio.

If as you say this model Kenwood was an option, then it should work, as long as the unit can 'see' the led and the led is working.

HTH.

As you currently have a JVC unit, there will be ISO connectors which will plug into the Kenwood unit.

For the steering will controls, it depends on what unit was originally fitted and the connector is on the end of the car audio loom.
If it is a BMW connector for the Harmony, you need an adapter lead with BMW connectors.
If has two ISO connectors for the Symphony, with the Blue/Orange and Blue/Purple cables in pins 2 & 3 of the grey ISO plug, you need an adapter lead with ISO connectors.
In each case you will also need a Kenwood patch lead.

If the original unit was a Kenwood with infra-red steering wheel controls, and the new one has the infra-red function, it should just be plug'n'play.

Thanks for your reply, seems I need to pop the current unit out and see what leads I have then!

Available here: http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...partno=PC99X32 Just remember to get the patch lead to go with it... http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...partno=PC99JVC

Cheers.
It depends on the connector on the car loom, the PC99-X32 is the one for the BMW connector.

I was waiting for the OP to say which system he had and then suggest one, rather than him get the wrong one, as in this thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=98546

Hence I said "something like this" just to give the guy an idea, and the other link I was thinking of the JVC he already has in his car....

But anyway, deleted now......

Thanks.
