Default Bag of wind.

Watched a hot air balloon race today. Are they entirely wind blown or are they navigable? Anybody done one? I know warm/cool air currents can help rise and fall, but direction?

The Chinese weather baroons can have some steering ability. Some if not all of those downed recently over the US had a prop and a rudder.

Really? Crusts? I was always told to 'eat your crusts' because 'it will make your hair curl'. Guess what, mine has all fallen out. Memo: don't believe your parents. They tell whoppers.

Cool

I’ve done a couple of hot air balloon trips. They do have rudders built into the ballon sides, they operate in a way that gently guides the balloon towards its landing. The rudders are just flaps built into the balloon fabric.
Most of the balloon trips have designated landing areas.
