VIS balance flap fitment

Hello - Can anyone help? I'm changing the vis motors on my 2.5 V6 auto and removed the balance flap for cleaning not realizing it can be fitted two ways 180 deg into the manifold. I've searched the forum and cannot find any info other than it should be fitted in the open position.

Yes, you're right Don but it doesn't matter which way it is inserted, it will operate in the same way.

Thank you Simon. A great relief as I couldn't find any reference of how it should be! - I'd visions of fitting it the wrong way an burning out the Vis motor.

As said, you can fit it either way it matters not, also you cannot fit it incorrectly to the balance vis as the shaft is oblong as opposed to square

The flap should be installed in the open position and it will then slide into the vis motor aperture. if it does not fit in the open position then it is highly likely the vis motor has failed.

This is unless it is a new vis motor from rimmers, Xpart etc, these vis motors are left half open with the flap at 45 degrees. this proves by the way that they have never been bench tested as this is the assembly position.
