Rebuild finished but not a runner yet
Well, it finished all bar some small jobs, it's still not a runner though, but its going to MGR.com on Thursday so fingers crossed.
Front grill is the old mk1 mesh at the top and stainless from ebay below. Everything else seems to work, fiiting the SE uprades was fun, washers for the headlights, each washer was £25 ouch, rear parking sensors into rear bumper, auto rain sensor to the inside of the screen. I did have to change the sunroof assembly as the other one was twisted, did it with out removing the headling completely, just droped it down a few inches, removed the bolts and then slid the sunroof assembly back and down it to the boot and out( take out the glass before doing this as it make's it a lot lighter, fitting was just the reverse. A couple of people have asked what I do for a living, I a MD for a negative film cutting company, we cut film negative ! our lastest job was "Mr Bean on Holiday" and no I have never been a mechanic, but have been racing and building cars since I was 20, now 47, so I've done my apperentership, I think, the only other MG I have owned was a MG Metro 6R4 number 147, I also own the world's only racing Triumph Stag, which has been put to one side for this project, see www.staggering.info Attachment 832 Attachment 833 I would like say a BIG THANKS for all the help and nice comments the forum members have sent me. Well done
Well Done for the rebuilding job, and I hope your car will be a runner very soon. Indeed this car has come a long way now!
Regards, Majed

Nice looking rolling chassis there Steve can't remember where I have seen the colour before though
Down to the nitty gritty, what about registration are you going to have to re register it or are you using the old rolled cars reg, if you re register do you get clobbered £400 VED? Do you need to take it for an SVA or ESVA test? Seeing as the glass and most of the trim has been apart have you given it a good soaking including the body trims and checked for water ingress? Don't forget to fill the fuel tank right up (check for more leaks) and get the wheel alignment done. A good job, nice to see such a rare car brought back from the grave. |

rebuild info
Hi Keith
Car was and is already registared and the old one was not on the V car listings either, thanx for the info re water ingress. Started the strip down of rolled car at the end of January, started building the bits into the other shell on March 12th. Guessing at about 300 hours to do the whole thing start to finish, but I can take days off when I want to do it, the weathers been great which helps. regards Steve F Attachment 834

A job well done, a credit to yourself Steve.Once running you should be in full on smiley mode
Dare we ask the ultimate question, how much did it cost or was it just a case of save a V8 ? |

Costs
Hi
I'll answer that one when its running, as a ECU or such like could add a £1000 to the cost. Attachment 835

Excuse my youthful type ignorance but what is the orange car in your signature Steve ? I can tell its a little older than most cars with lack of servo.
