Harmony to Blaupunkt

I am shortly to replace the existing Harmony radio and cd glovebox changer to a Blaupunkt with mp3. This means that I will be able to free up the glovebox.
I have looked at the back of the Harmony radio today to try to work out the loom and it has an extra loom vul100310 connected.
Can I assume that this loom can come out, when fitting the Blaupunkt with Autoleads pc99-x32 which I am going to buy?

On the existing loom there is a thin connector on a lead which is just hanging from the loom. Does anybody know what this is for?
