Hi,

Be welcome;if it runs with easy start,it means no electric problem ;
But i think,a lack of high pressure (injector,pump etc..)

You can try this to confirm:

Thanks i have a common rail pressure sensore on order just in case. would that show up as a fault on the ecu or not.

Also would you know if a diagnostic can read the ecu and look for problems does that mean its ok

Thanks..

could be the sensor on the pump im not sure if you can get anything to read the fuel rail pressure as it may be too low.

other thing is have you tried the leak back of injectors by nipping the return pipe on each injector in turn. look for the how to on that as it will show you the correct way of doing the leak back test

The engine doesn't need the glow plugs to start and I had a glow plug alarm show up on mine last time it was plugged in and it was still starting fine.

As they say so often in the trade - "they all do that sir".

Glow Plug relay etc fault is very common on these engines, but as others have said they don't really need them at all. Only problem with glow plugs is if the relay sticks open and keeps them on, frying your battery. I know that one from experience with my 1st 75 CDT.

I would put money on it being the high pressure side if all the low pressure side has been replaced and/or ruled out.
