Default Removing scratches from real wood dash

I bought a walnut dash off e bay recently and although i was initially disappointed because the airbag was missing and a couple of other parts were scratched, all in all it wasnt a bad deal as the seller sent the airbag cover and replaced one of the scratched parts, and i also got the air vents, clock, clips etc.

The added bonus which i didnt expect was the main 3 dash pieces were the real walnut ones, but they had some surface scratches in the lacquer a bit like swirl marks on paint. I tried polishing by hand but no luck so in the end i thought why not use my UDM polisher as it removes scratches from the clearcoat on paintwork so why not do the same for lacquer on the real wood dash.

Anyway i used the small pads, a small amount of cutting polish, and a slow speed and it removed the scratches no problem before finally fitting to the car as below. This is still work in progress as i am waiting for some other walnut bits off Les and then have to find a walnut and sandstone wheel !

What looks like scratches or polish at the bottom of the picture isnt either - its a part reflection of me taking the picture
