Brake Fault Warning - Message Centre
Hi All,
I wonder if you can kindly help. My Rover 75 2.5 V6 2001 has had a permanent ABS warning fault for a few years now. My local garage has had a look but not managed for cure the fault. Instead, they clear all the fault codes just prior to an MOT and it passes as no warning lights are on for the test. A cheat but gets me through. I mention this in case connected to my recent fault. Recently while driving, the Red 'Brake Fault' came up in the message centre and once it went off the brake light stayed on. I carefully checked I could stop and drove home. I checked the brake fluid level and while low wasn't at minimum. I topped up with new Dot 4 but that it didn't make any difference. The brake warning light is now sometimes on and other times off. I had my local garage come and collect the car to investigate but on that day the light was off. The mechanic looked at the fault codes and there was a couple from the rear right ABS sensor but nothing else related. He cleared the codes, checked the pads etc and said he couldn't do much more as the warning was off. Since dropping the car back, the Brake Fault warning has come up again and the warning light is constantly on. Can anyone suggest what the fault may be? I'm obviously reluctant to drive with such a potentially serious warning. Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciate. |
