I was hoping to avoid taking the whole panel off - is that possible?

Woah!!! Just wheeked it off – without breaking it, thanks to you guys – few dabs with the hot plastic gun, and it seems to be rock solid!

Thanks so much

Thing is, I have a VERY short fuse, and tend to break things, so I have to be very disciplined about asking people before jumping in.

And it would never, ever have occurred to me that the chrome bit wasn’t actually MEANT to be removed separately… my last three cars were Beemers, and with them, you pushed the equivalent of the chrome bit hard backwards and it slipped out of its tapered hooks. Back in the same way.
