![]() Personally I think that Rover 75 is one of the most beautiful cars ever build, but many people think that its not so. The result of all this is that in my country we dont have professionals that can do diagnostic of Rover 75. In this case we decided to offer to our Rover clients diagnostic service and repair. In this case we are looking for information: what softs can/must be used in Rover 75 diagnostic, what sockets are used? From the first look it seems that Rover uses BMW system. Is it so? Or Rover uses its own?

![]() The short answer to your question is that the best kit to get hold of is the original Dealer diagnostic hardware and software, called Testbook (not a BMW system though the car does use a lotr of BMW electronics) Either that or there is aftermarket diagnostic equipment that will do all that Testbook did. However it is not cheap! ![]() Rover's own diagnostic computer is called testbook, similar to landrovers I believe, I don't think its anything similar to BMW. I think they use a 16 pin connector above the pedals, (on a right hand drive car, maybe same for left hand drive) Where in the world are you?

![]() right Iviksna diag tools depends on how much you want to spend there is nothing cheap that I know of on the market that can read all the cars ECUs to enable proper fault finding. I fixed an early Testbook (a T1) which can be used 95% of the time but it can not do full car coding and does not work on my V8 ![]() Testbook, T4 can be bought in a Lite format for £3495 from Omitec but they insist on selling you an all in one package including laptop and support contract, you should buy this if you intend to maintain many cars as it will do everything from one data CD plus with other CDs you can do the ZS, ZR, 25, 45, MGF etc and with a different version of the Tesbook application software you can do Landrovers as well e.g the Freelander The next best thing is Rovacom lite this will cost you around £750 to get the hardware and engine ECU software but if you want to check other ECU's Airbags, ABS, Cruise Control, BCU, instrument Cluster etc you have to buy additional software modules which can make it expensive. http://www.rovacomlite.com/ two other systems worth considering although I have never seen either are DEC superscan II http://www.mavericktechnology.co.uk/....co.uk/dec.htm and the Launch X-431 http://www.rwmotortec.com/launchx431/ None are cheap though, one day (soon) I hope we will have a realistic DIY alternative. ![]() Sykes Pickavant (Facom) ACR4 with a Rover V4 pod will enable you to do basic diagnostics of all the Rover engines, abs and srs (on some models).
It can display fault codes, reset the MIL and service counters, and test some components such as a/c fan speeds, egr actuator, glow plug relay etc. Its the cheapest one that's compatible with the diesels. Any OBD2 code reader will work on the petrol engined models from 2000. Ron
