Angry Alternator on ZT CDTi

Alternator died. Xpart service centre have quoted £145 for the alternator and 4 hours labour at £45 per hour. Is it a 4 hour job or am I being ripped off?

Not done it (yet) but from Haynes:
Remove auxiliary drive belts - engine top cover off, R/H front wheel off, wheel arch liner out, release tension from belt and remove from pulleys.
Remove radiator!
Take wires and other assorted bits off alternator, get underneath, unscrew a few more bits and remove offending article.
Refitting, as they say, etc.
If they've never done it before it'll take them 4 hours to suss it out!

I have an alternator, which I got by mistake (mine was ok in the end). Its off a Z CDTi, which had done 50k . I've cleaned it & tested it and is working ok.

It cost me £71 but I'm asking £50 + £11 postage, if you're interested.

By the way, I believe the alternator can be removed, if the A/C compressor is detached and moved to one side, and it comes out near the crank pulley, after taking off the wheelarch lining.

No your not being ripped off it's a pain in the a**e to do.
Bumper off, power steering pump moved to the side, radiator moved to the side, wheel off, access to one of the bolts in particular is a nightmare you can get a spanner on it but can't move much! Really need a strong dwarf with thin hands

4 hrs is about right (I got my brothers garage to do it )
