Default A new MOT and another year's fun.

After passing her MOT first time last year, the old girl has managed a pass with just a new track rod this year. To be fair I do keep on top of things so there shouldn't be too many surprises. I didn't change the track rod beforehand because I couldn't decide if it was inner or outer ball joint without a 2nd pair of hands to do the waggling. An OEM TRW part for £17 from Best of British was the total cost of the new 'ticket to drive'. The part changed was the original so 116k/14 years was not too bad.

Well done, a painless MOT. I replaced both track rod ends recently, fitted genuine too.

I think I'll be giving mine a good full-day going over before the MOT - after my horrific £430 MOT last year, I've learned to love DIY again...!

The only reason it's still fun is because I can change most parts myself. From my list of work done only the belts and lower arm/bush were outsourced (Lates). Owning a car such as this would be prohibitive without the ability to DIY. I find parts cost is usually more than reasonable.

Do we really think our cars are exceptionally expensive to maintain ?
I don't !
For instance , I know numerous Ford owners who have had to remortgage the house to keep the car on the road !
