EGR cooler bleed screw
Hi
I have an auto diesel and have the EGR cooler and it's bleed screw. Just noticed this as looking at other things on the car. Question is this. Is it useful or serve any purpose to open this bleed screw when re-filling coolant? Not that I have an issues at the moment. Just for reference. When I changed coolant I refilled and used the FBH bleed screw. Coolant did not flow from this even with the expansion tank loose and moved as high as I could get it. Needed to use a filler and elastic band in the top of the expansion tank as a temporary higher expansion tank/reservoir to get coolant to flow from the FBH bleed screw. Thanks Andrew |

No reason not too, better be safe than sorry, just treat it the same way as the other bleeder, close it when coolant starts to come out...

Thanks James. Strange that Rover did not put this as part of the bleed procedure. Maybe it was a change made during the production run?
Or maybe they thought everyone should do a pressure fill every time? |
