Me, I took my test in a brand spanking new Vauxhall Nova 1.5 diesel in a dull red oxide colour in 1986.

Two one hour lessons booked, one to get used to the car, and one for the test, which I passed first time

First driving lesson was at 12 AM on the day of my 17th birthday, unsurprisingly in a five year old 1700L Morris Marina estate in Russet Brown

After passing my test in 1960 Brian, the A35 Van was my first vehicle. It was brand new and the payments crippled me!.
It had a bench seat in the rear and I remember taking Mum and Dad from our home near Keighley W Yorks all the way down the old A1 to Victoria Station London. I think it took around 7 hours. They were off to Ostend as Dad used to visit the war graves.
Then a week later I did it all again to bring them home.

Blue. 2 door Metro. 1984. B.S.M. 12 lessons and i passed. £8.10p per lesson back then.

My driving instructor (Nigel) was one in a million. Even in march of 1984 it was snowing, He took me out in the thick of it and learned me how to drive in the snow.! I'll never forget it.

Wonder if that would happen today?
