Hi Jason and to the club.
Gears baulking was one of the reasons that I gave up on manual gearboxes a long time ago! Automatics won't suffer the same phenonemon because at low temperatures the ATF will be thicker. I'd be looking at the amount and grade of gearbox oil Jason. How long have you had the car? Did Mr. Previous Owner change the gearbox oil? Forum colleagues will I think confirm that a particular type of gearbox oil must be used. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than I will be along to help shortly. Simon

May be not the weather,i had same trouble after master and slave cylinder change, returned to garage so they could bleed system o.k. after. Check reservoir level of clutch fluid, (under clutch pedal). See post on soft clutch just below.

I have a MG-ZTT '05' (180k miles), That does the same thing in 1st and 2nd, very stiff from cold first thing.
Then after 5 minutes or so all is ok!! I have put it down to gear box oil, I have got the recommended (MTF94) but as of yet I have not got round to replacing it. Bleeding the system did not fix my problem. |

If someone has changed the gearbox oil make sure it's not EP90 as that will cause the gears to drag until warmed up
