TMC and classic FM
Has any one been experiencing problems with SatNav and TMC functionality.
The last two mornings I have had a strange problem with my HiLine SatNav system. I have a BMW Mk 3 SatNav computer which since installation a few months ago, has worked wonderfully. However, yesterday and this morning it has behaved very odd. Initially when I start the car and the sytem boots up the letters TMC appear in 'white', whereas they used to always appear in 'green'. If I switch the radio on which is pretuned to classic fm, the letters now turn 'red'?. After a long time over 5 mins they then finally turn 'green'. If I leave the radio off the letters TMC do go green but not till about 10 or more minutes have passed. Any seen the behaviour before. Is it a possible fault developing with the Radio tuner. The SatNav works regardless of what state the letters are, white, green or red so I presume that is working fine. One other point, I did all through this time have great difficulty in tuning into Classic fm, the radio seems to find the station and initially displays 101.1fm for a few seconds and then begins searching again and locks onto the next station. I had to retune a few times before I finally got it to lock onto Classic fm. it has worked fine for the rest of today and all through my journey home which lasts about 11/2hrs tonight. Any ideas what may be the cause or was Classic fm having problems their end. Cheers, Andy |

Andy I have noticed this in certain places as well, I think it is just a reception issue TMC is like RDS, needs a good signal
I bet it also improves when you turn off the HRW. |

TMC and Classic fm
Hi Keith,
I think you may be right on the HRW aspect as it tend to switch off automatically after about 5 to 10 mins after driving and this kind of coincides with the TMC letters turning green. I'll watch this more closely tomorrow. However, why do the letters turn red, not seen that before till the last few days. Cheers and thanks for the advice. Andy |
