MG ZT 190 SE - Rear Brake Advice
Hello everyone,
I have started recommissioning my recently reacquired MG ZT 190 SE (SE number 96 of 151). I will shortly be turning my attention to the brakes. The rear discs have seen better days, so I’m going to buy new discs and pads. I want to keep the car in top condition, and it will not be covering a lot of miles, not being my every day car, so I am thinking about replacing the backing plates and shoes etc. Is this worth doing? I only really want to do the job once. I don’t mind spending the money, so just wanted to know whether it is beneficial to change as much as all that. I’ll be getting my garage to do it, so just wanted an idea of how much extra work it is to change the backing plates, shoes etc. Your thoughts will be welcomed. Thanks Ed

Very much worth changing the back plates, but check the condition first to see if they need doing. They can rust quite badly and also allow the handbrake shoe retaining pins to pull through which is not good. £44 each from DMGRS
