Not necessary, but advisable. The problem is the new track rod ends, the screw thread may not start in the same place as the old ones. Therefore counting the turns as you unscrew them, does not mean they will be exactly the same when replaced. Also if the track has been adjusted during the life of the original ends, it means that any adjustment was made because of wear in that and other components. All in all, get them checked for your own peace of mind.

With track rod ends it doesn't matter where the screw thread starts because you can rotate the end afterwards to align it, but worth checking the tracking afterwards as mentioned for peace of mind.
I bought a Gunson's Trackrite years ago to keep an eye on the tracking of our cars - simple and quick to use and saves on paying a garage. |

Hi Rob,
I'd recommend that you take this opportunity to have a 4 wheel alignment carried out. Adjusting only the front toe is a waste of time if the rear thrust angle is in error. Find your nearest Hunter equipped centre here. Simon

I agree totally, it's not too expensive, and can actually save you money in the long run by improving fuel consumption and less rear tire wear

I'm lucky there's a really really good guy who's got a great reputation just down the road from me. But he's always busy, if you manage to book an appointment it's usually a few weeks away. Totally transformed my car Russ
