Parking Sensor inactive
A while ago someone ran into the back of me breaking a sensor.
Since then my PDC had not functioned. I have recently replaced the sensor but still no joy. I connected using Toaf on my laptop and saw that the reversing signal was set to 'inactive' If i set that to 'active' then the PDC functions correctly until i switch the ignition off. Once turned on again i get no sounds at all from the PDC. I then tried the TOAF app on my phone. Using that if I set to Active i got the message ' save coding succesfull wait for ecu reset' Followed by the message 'ECU reset error' I have attempted with both my original PDC module and another with similar results. Would anyone have any ideas where to go from here? It is a bit frustrating as it now works ok apart from the fact I cannot get it to stay on! |

https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=319991 I wonder if some of the newer sensors are not quite the right spec, or maybe if you mix-and-match original and newer sensors, then you are in trouble? One of my original sensors has just failed, so I'll need to have the bumper off and buy another sensor. |

PDC upsets.
Ah, the PDC. On purchase the supplier promised to service the PDC. sadly he used ebay products, however the crackle was present when reverse selected. Anew PDC ecu was fitted but no joy. Spent hours on looking at the system. Found an article by "timon" which helped and could help you. His fix involved changing the wiring.
Anyway my investigation found this flow: sensor fault will give a c10 second audio warning on selecting reverse sensors serviceable will a momentary sound on selecting reverse no sound will indicate the sounder u/s or other fault, ecu, wiring etc. Like your case both timon and I could reset the system by TOAF but on the next start no warning. The wiring work around by "timon" worked for him. In my case I fitted 4 new sensors supplied by Rimmer Bros and no problem. The system came to life without out any intervention from TOAF or T4. Good luck with the fix. |

I think I get the gist... basically, you connect the sensors to the reverse light for power, rather than the ignition live. This means they are 'reset' every time you select reverse. Very cunning. I might try this on mine, since a sensor has stopped working, and I only have a 'new' sensor to replace it. |

Quick update.
I have just done the 'dirty fix' as suggested in Timons post. As i cut each brown wire from the white connector going to the PDC module i marked each with different colour shrink wrap so that i could make the correct re connections should i wish to reverse the operation. For now i have used choc block connectors to give the modification a try. I may consider keeping them in place as if i sensor fails in the future i imagine i would need to reconnect as original for reading faults. I now have reversing sensors functioning. The only strange thing is that when i take it back out of reverse i get the 5 second continuous fault tone. Has anyone else who has done this encountered this I wonder? |
