Default auto trans kaputt

hi Fans,
just bought 75,2002, 2.5 automatic from an old man (195.000 km),
he exchanged all parts needed, had tons of invoices. perfect looking car, stayed indoors. Owner said zero problems.Test drive was ok.
After I bought it, driving 500 km I had slipping gears, I stopped, start again, drove 2km, same, battery on/off, drove to next mechanic, slowly.
Transmission works ONLY when cold, car warms up, revs up, no drive.
No codes! (by TOAF)
Transmission oil was changed 5000 km ago, 2 solenoids as well.
Mechanic wants transmission oil change.
I guess it would not repair it....
What a hell is this ?
Previous owner says there is a magnetic switch inside gearbox that can fail causing this,
I go mad, I want to love this car....electric or mechanic problem?
Please help me,
Zsolt, Hungary

I agree with your mechanic - change the ATF to ensure that the correct fluid is used and that the level is correct. There is a set procedure for this in RAVE the official Rover service manual.

I too agree with your mechanic. I have replied to your post in a historic thread on the same subject.
