So I managed to the ews and sure enough the sunroof drain had popped off and water had been trickling in to the connector !removed the ews and looks like one of the small pins has detached itself 🙄 any ideas on getting a new one and how to get it all programmed back to the car would be appreciated .cheers

Go to a scrapyard and find an EWS with the same number. With that and the old one in hand, go and visit your local iPhone repair shop, ask them to swop the large central chip which contains all your information to the "new" EWS. Plug it in and start the car, then fix the sunroof drain. Good luck |

If you need a local scrappy give David a shout https://www.dysalvage.com/ .
He often has 75's over there.

So I decided to get a working doner ews and had the big microchip from mine transplanted into the new one (as suggested in a post by big russ ) good news is no engine disabled warning coming up... bad news is car still won't crank 🤦NAUGHTY WORD-♀️ any ideas ?would the engine disabled warning be on if the keys have gone out of sync with the ews?cheers rich

Hi Rich,
Here's a quote from RAVE for you: "The information [from the EWS] is on a rolling code system and both the [immobilisation] ECU and the ECM will require synchronisation if either component is renewed." I don't know whether or not this is relevant but Russ will I'm sure be able to tell you. Simon

As I'm the one who suggested the swop I can tell you that the local member who followed the same procedure had no need to resync any module and the engine cranked normally once the chip had been transplanted - I think the car believes it's the original EWS. Some time ago now, but I believe I had my T4 with me but it wasn't needed. Perhaps it's time to go back into the past and check the starter cranks with an extra feed on the spade terminal. Keep well, Mike |

Would I be correct in assuming the keys may have become scrambled by repeated attempts to start the car with the engine disabled warning on ?if so now that I i have replaced the chip in the ews ,how do i get them resynced to it ? And can anyone confirm if them keys have become "scrambled" would the engine disabled light be on still (as it isn't on now ) cheers rich

I don't have any experience of immobilisation faults but from what you've reported, and the fact that this is a new, unknown car to you, the starter motor could be at fault. When you turn the key to "start" do you hear a solid click from the engine compartment? Simon
