PNG100252 Charge air cooler (Intercooler) turbocharger £342.82 + VAT[/quote]
Yes, seen that but they are out of stock at present. I understand the issues about lack of boost but temperature? If the air leaving the turbo was that hot they wouldn't be using rubber hoses and plastic fittings. How hot do you recon it gets? I've never burnt myself on a intercooler. Graham |

i was always taught that inside the cylinder temp could be 1200c, turbo around 500c in the middle, its not a massive amount of metal between exhaust air and inlet air so I would imagine the heat exchange is very high.
Just a though but have you tried any of people breaking cars on here or ebay? deff worth some hard work trying to find a replacement one. I really do believe that the amount of damage that could be caused by removing the intercooler maybe enough to scrap the engine. |

Ran it about town today for a couple of hours, and a quick squirt down the dual carrigeway, and the temp hardly moved. The hase that I fitted is barely warm to the touch so can't be getting that hot. Most diesels run without an aftercooler after all.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's help. I've now got a new intercooler thanks to Matt TDV6. Collecting it at the end of the week so as long as it doesn't blow up or melt before then I'll be happy. Great to know that there are people willing to help Graham |
