Hi all
Thanks for the tips and good lucks but bad news it as rained here all day :-x so took the chance to solder the wire to the resistor ready for tomorrow, i hope it does not rain again i am so dissapointed & deflated,i still have to sort out which wires go where once i get my control box off and the loom.

The joints have to be soldered as crimping alone in no good makes for a loose fix very unstable

What have the rest of you fixed the resistor to the fan with self tappers or very small bolt & Nuts, also the two black cut wires do i change these and use the brown wires that should be in my original 3 speed control box still not sure about this i am sure once the old fan is off and in front of me the light will switch on.

Default Help Need ASAP

I still need to know where all the wires go have added these photos hoping someone will look in while i am having a break for coffee and tidying up around the car, took loom off and change some of the wires need to know about the litte gray wire?

I know the purple in redundant now, do i joine the two as one and then join it to the motor red wire, ?

If you're using your old 3 speed loom into the 2 speed box, the 2 brown positives need to become 2 x -Negs.

Then how do i join the little grey wire to the blue and red wire

1

2

3
Two brown wires going into one in the loom where do i connect these to with regatds to the fan wires ?
If you're using your old 3 speed loom into the 2 speed box, the 2 brown positives need to become 2 x -Negs.
do i join the together then join them to the red going to the motor ?

4
Again do i have to join the grey wire to the blue and red wire?

5

Any help please before the rain hits us here. do i swap these over ?

You can see where all the wires go.

If you're using your old 3 speed loom into the 2 speed box, the 2 brown positives need to become 2 x -Negs.

Grey circuit goes via resistor
Red circuit effectively shorts out the resistor and hence goes to MOTOR BLACK

Easiest way to achieve that is cut thick black and browns BEFORE they split near the plug ends and swap them over.

The thin black that is earth for the PCB will be retained and joined the thick black at the plug end.
Less cable joins if you do it that way.

PURPLE circuit not used anymore for 2 speed and can be cut off.
Final change will be to connect the THIN GREY to the Red/Blue as in top pic

This is where i am stuck i have left one thick black wire going no where, from the loom i also still have the two brown wires what do i do with them.

1

one of the black wires is going to the control box the other is loose ?
2

how do i connect these little wires( ie grey to the blue & red) what with as they are so small.

Arctic -If you will excuse me for saying so, that soldering doesn't look very good. It looks as if you have not had a large enough source of heat on it. You will need either a very large soldering iron or a small blow lamp to get a decent joint with that mass.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Hi no it was me not leaving well alone and i ended up making it like icing on a cake but made it good after. that is the least of my worrys at the moment i have the car in bits because i am still not sure of the wires,

This is where i am at now so far, fellow members i am still stuck with this wiring, so i decided to try this just hope its ok but have given up trying to get car all back together today now as am losing light and it's started to spit rain.

The top pic is of my old relys out of my 3 speed i just placed the wires back as they were in the new one 2 speed, the bottom pic is of how i am now using my loom as the one above came with a loom and the little wires cut back to close ? why i dont know.

4

Note in this pic 5 black and gray where they should be, all the little wires where they should be,purple will be cut of as it is not used now,the two brown which one will be no good the other i have joined to the black so now making the other brown a black as in control box above.
5

as you can see black as become brown in the box, in effect giving me my two black as above, grey goes to the resistor red goes to the resistor.
6

In this pic 7 the other main brown goes to the red which in turn goes to the motor. but i am still not sure if this is right, also do i put little grey with the blue and red little wire.
7

Took me about an hour to get bumper of etc since then i have been stuck, trying to sort this wiring and it is now 8.00pm started at 12.00pm what a night mare but iam hoping it will be ok in the end, car is still in bits.

Ive been told theres a tremendous heat created by this resistor, are you sure those plastic ties are adequate for this job, and wont melt, meaning you could have to do the whole dismantling job again...

I am trying to do something similar to you...Im going to fit a 2 speed motor off a petrol model to my existing 3 speed connection box. I intend to use the wires off the 2 speed(including newly fitted resistor) and just join the wires to the wires coming out of my 3 speed box. I havent got the car dismantled yet, so cant see what wires come out of the 3 speed box, but dont think i have to change polarity.....Mines a 2001 model

Thanks Steve, nice description, and yes, understand what you mean about cable ties, if the experts are using that method, its ok for me too.
