Spook, pleasure to be of assistance ! You have almost exactly the same setup as I do.

I think NavCoder is the solution 100%. Out of interest, and help for others, which computer and SW version do you have ?

JDC, it's a once off command from NavCoder to the computer, rather than something the clock needs to repeat, or indeed a setting in the clock.

Cheers,
Bruce.

Try

http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/install.html

From memory, pin 4 of the BMW connector in the radio tuner.

From Hans' post page 3 :
I used the loom going to the radio module in the boot.
In most cars the main navigation/audio loom ends in a 17 round pin connector that plugs into the radio module (also called the BMW 17 pin connector).
The wires you need go to:
Pin 15 == Ground
Pin 5 === +12V Ignition
Pin 7 === I-bus

So did I, and the very same connections are used with the Ressler interface. Thus I extended the wires from the Timer unit, so that I can attach the Ressler whenever I want to without any trouble.

Bruce:
My Nav-system is a MkIV DVD nav unit running v32 with my own logo and modified with POIsON for Speedcams (www.X5world.com/forums) and translated to Danish using NavTweak and NavSpeak.

If using Navcoder is the only way to get the ETA display working, it looks at least as though there is an easier alternative to cutting into the wires and worrying about which connections to use. If you follow the link in the Navcoder Help to the elektronik-idee BMW Interfaces shop on eBay you'lll find someone has developed an interface unit with a connector straight into the TV unit (and a bypass so the TV remains operational and you can leave it there). It comes bundled with a Navcoder license so the price is only slightly more than buying a Resler interface and the Navcoder license separately. For a non-electrician like me it sounds rather easier to use. Anyway, I've got my clock Ibus unit here and have ordered this interface with Navcoder, so hopefully I can get it all set up before too long.
Julian.

Hi John,
I haven't forgotten this, but I'm not there yet. I have the clock Ibus installed and showing the time, but no ETA or Timer functionality yet. I currently cannot get Navcoder to run correctly to try setting the "Show arrival time" there. I am travelling on business abroad this week, then moving offices this weekend, so this may get pushed back until I have more time and can consult with Jochen Siegenthaler.
I have also had a number of electrical problems recently, originating with a CD changer fault, which led to constant battery drains, and an intermittent misfire. Fixing these has taken priority. I am hoping they are now resolved, but am waiting somewhat anxiously to try starting the car at the weekend after leaving it for a week whilst travelling.
Once I do have more news on the Navcoder/ETA issue I will post an update, but it will probably be next month.
Cheers,
Julian.
