"Jaguar X Type" was a con when they first came on the scene, a perfectly good Mondeo was tarted up as a "Jaguar" which of course it never was and never will be.

They're not bad cars. 4 wheel drive and they actually have a reliable V6 engine. I'd have one over a V6 75/ZT.

I've had 3 X Types, 2.5, 3.0 and a 2.0 diesel. Rather fond of them, as has already been said, there not 'proper' Jags but I rather liked them. The interior felt better screwed together and the boot is surprisingly shallow. I never had any real problems but then again the oldest I had was only four years old.

Not sure I would want a 10 plus year old one now, they haven't got the character of the 75 and haven't aged as well.

Always makes me chuckle when I hear (or read) someone call the X-Type a Mondeo. They may share some components, but the end result is a world apart.

Jags are about character. Being the half brother of a ford mondeo was never going to be quite the same.

Exactly! You don't hear an Aston Martin called a Ford very often ...

I would also like to put a good word for the x type i owned 1for three years a 2lt jaguar engine and thought a great car to drive (2 speeding tickets).Just the cost to keep it on the road was it's downfall.
