Have you tried a different router/network switch?
Read a few posts online about routers causing issues with Airplay. |

Yup, dug out our old router this morning and that's pretty much the same!

Never heard of that, but it seems that there is an Android app for it, so well worth a go!
(if there's a Windows version, even better! ) Many thanks!

I have used skifta at home. I like it.
Just set your laptop up as a server. I'll have a think. Actually, ome of the tin foil had brigade on one of the forums I was looking at was saying that google software was causing the issues he was experiencing. Are you running much google stuff? |

(no Google stuff as far as I am aware!)
Just a quick update: Skifta on the phone is much better than the Denon app. The latter runs about 50% of the time, the former almost all the time (had one major hang and the volume is a but iffy, but other than that.....) Tried the PC part but found that this is more for accessing stuff from your PC via your phone when you are not at home. So still looking for an alternative to iTunes. Thought I'd got it when I saw in the Denon instructions that WMP 12 allows output to network Players. As I have WMP 11, this seemed to be the answer. That was until I found that 12 is for Windows 7 and 8 only, with no backward compatibility for Vista! So, now trying "Zune" which probably won't do what I want, but currently stymied as apparently "a required service is not running on this computer: Error Code 0x80070422" AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

There are lots and lots of 3rd party media server programmes out there.
I have used Twonky and a couple of others, but I now use my NAS for it all now. Have a look at plex as it seems to be well reviewed. |

Cheers!
I seem to recall having Plex on my PC some years back and had Twonky on my phone well before I got the hi-fi, but was never sure what it actually did!

Just a quick update for anyone that might be still interested......
Wondering now if a change of router would be of any use? We have a TP-Link one that worked well before we changed BB provider and were given the EE Brightbox. I'm going to try it later and see if iTunes/Airplay performance improves, but in the meantime:-
If suggestion #2 would work, it sort of makes sense to use this to avoid any traffic conflicts! Also been reading that people recommend routers made by Apple for this kind of application, such as this one but wouldn't want to buy one if it was not going to help or messed up regular Internet connecting!
