I think the Bush TR82 should be placed on a blanket on the back seat with a wicker pick-nick basket to look right.
The dashboard placement would be a faux pas I'm afraid to say.

I just see the simplicity in things.
Ribbons cannot be repaired as such they gradually crack and go O/C often the cracks are hairline and a little bit of heat can make the track expand enough for temporary full operation. The scenario though is heating is never a permanent cure. TBH I wouldn't think the ribbon is the main problem anyway, it's more likely the display section LCD and the conductive strips, these do loose their elasticity and gradually don't give a good contact, again a wee bit of warmth is a temporary cure.

Eloquently saidso a constant temperature of say 20 may be a permanent fix????

Could be it will speed deterioration. I don't know

Yes and no. Heating isn't curing the problem it's masking it. The cracks in the ribbon ( assuming it's faulty) are caused by constant heating and cooling also by vibration. You may get the ribbon to a temperature that gives a contact but from many years repairing units with ribbon cables it will fail.
It's worth a try for a temporary measure but any form of heater has the chance of failure or could be a fire hazard, even 12 watts of heat is enough to flatten your battery too.
Me I'd shelve the idea.

Or is it another trader you wish to undermine and stamp all over their business as he's part of the 'CARTEL'
Correct on both accounts

Hi.
In this case I've tried to explain to Shawn why his idea really is a no no. Hopefully he will abandon this, also though anyone else reading it will clearly see why it's a bit silly. I'm sure it won't make a bit of difference to Pete's business. Anyone that tries Shawns idea is unlikely to use Pete anyway, perhaps skint or other reasons.
There's method in my madness!

I'm sure if it was a £150, 75 with many faults the IPK would be the last thing I would fix!
