Default Tailgate switch

I have followed the info and directions. The 4 torx screws are not accessible from the inside. There is no way I can get any tool into the torx screws that hold the cover in place to get at the switch. Can they be tapped out from inside? Otherwise, how is it done?

It's hard to tell from the photo but it looks like a security/anti-tamper torx screw. If it is, you need a hollow torx bit like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161525803...mis&media=COPY

Is that what you're using?

Before you do all that i would try the following - remove the rubber grommet in the handle and insert a screw driver into the handle mechanism - i have done this twice when the tailgate would not open - jiggle the screw driver around and hopefully you will hear a set of clicks - this is the lock resetting itself and on both occasions that sorted the tailgate. Remember to carefully reset the grommet.
