Not a purist in the sense that it must be as it left the factory, but do fit optional extra's that it could or should have left the factory with.
I don't have a problem with people updating the I.C.E in their cars as things have moved on a lot since the 75/ZT were made. Subtle improvements to help engine efficiency or to help prevent problems are no bad thing, but adding ill-thought out extra's particularly on the outside just looks tacky IMO. Russ

Not a 100% purist but would like to fit optional extras (those Xenon lights that I still delay), although, and until now, I have not made a single "serious" mod
Edit: Done so far:Speed locking doors and Bosch Aeroblade wipers

I will gladly add stuff the car needs, like better radios, fog lights, reversing sensors etc, but I would stop short at adding anything that changes the cars appearance. Except - maybe some better - more informative - ID badges on the rear of them would help.
The Rover 75 is a classic style car, it is one of the very few cars that really looks good. Personaly I love them. I can't really comment on the MG ZT as up till now, I have not seen one up close! . |

Cosmetically... I'm happy doing any mods that look OEM. For example, the blue backlighting on my ZT... I'm basically doing what I think would have been done at the factory, had cost not been an issue.
Performance... most mods would be fine, as long as they are not generally visible (i.e. exhausts must not have massive tailpipes, it has to be in keeping with the car and not look aftermarket) Although... I'm resisting changing my alloys for black ones - I had black alloys on my 620ti and they looked great! Here's a pic : But I'm not sure black alloys would be in keeping with the 'executive' image of the ZT... it's a mod too far.

Agree completely.
I've added an MGR (but not 75 specific) walnut gearknob, a Freelander walnut handbrake cover, and biege leather gaiters. Oh, and the WDC dash kit/chrome edges. Oh, and a Ron box. Oh, and intake Mk2. Oh, and towbar. Oh, and changed alloys (but only to alternative MGR OE). And added Trafficmaster. I reckon I've now got the car how I would have liked MGR to have done it, so modded in a purist sort of way..................... Malcolm

Thanks for the answer John and i do agree that adding things that it should have left the factory especially after the infamous project drive is fine,i would like some torpedos for the doors for instance, but hey at least i have a pair of mk2 rear mudflaps which i understand are pretty rare.
