you then need a sacrificial ecu and some crossed fingers
Process I think is 1, note existing codes 2, write them down again 3, request new codes based on 1 above 4, fit sacrifial ecu, engine or imobilser i.e one pre coded from another car 5, connect T4 6, Hope T4 throws a strop becuase of coding mismatch 7, type in new codes 8, refit original ecu 9, type in new codes again (probably) 10, check Cruise is showing a enabled in the DDE4 ecu 11, check everything else works as before 12, check cruise works If not repeat from 3 above or back out using original codes That is a fair bit of labour so not cheap. |

I have retrofitted cruse successfully this Summer (2009)....see my post on this site entitled "Retro-fitting cruise control using Rover parts, new ZCS codes" . I think it now in the Engineering section.
It covers every step right down to installing the zcs codes with a T4. I am not aware of any other guide to this procedure which works. I obtained and tried an official service bulletin for this procedure but it would never work on my 2005 car, hence me documenting it. The job is fairly easy. You need the correct ZCS codes however to get full functionality. As cruise effectively puts the car into quasi-autopilot I would never feel too happy with anythin short of the manufacturer's setup for it's equipment. ZCS codes can be obtained from X-Part via the ex-MG-Rover dealers for about £40. Alternatively they can be obtained from enthusiasts namely Probey (on the MG-Rover Website) or indeed from me now. We both have software to produce the new codes and an extra checksum digit that is required to install any zcs code (ie: to reinstall the oriinal or new codes) into the car's ecus. I have been driving my car now for months doing some long mileage and it has performed faultlessly. My T4 (I have a T4 of my own) diagnostic checks have been fine from this viewpoint. Contact me if you need any help. Last edited by markhowell; 16th October 2009 at 03:13.. Reason: Expansion |
