Only my local MOT tester who's been in business for . . . 30+ years: so maybe not a twaddler. Summat to do with it being a metallic grease. Sorry Brian.

Guess it's about time your MOT tester was re-tested.---

Definitely a case of Metal Moth in his works.----------

Get him to quote the relevant passage from the current MOT test manual then

I've a suspicion there will be no reference whatsoever

For those with an "open mind" on these matters!

This may be informative.

being cynically open minded I dont believe Textar have a vested interest in not recommending copper grease in favour of their own brand Cera Tec, do you?

I have THIS on my pads by the way, to see what the fuss is all about. I had wanted a tube of copper grease as my last one had finished (a tube isnt enough for four discs! Who knew? ) and the tub I have is too messy for brake assembly. So that came up and I thought I would try it. I dont have a lot of confidence in it to be honest from how it was going on, but whilst early days the brakes are still quiet. A bit of good sense when applying it is all it takes surely?

Not really - they could sell tubes of copper grease just as well as ceramic grease. The latter is nothing special and is available under many brand names in any case.

Coppa slip, grease or whatever is good stuff to use wherever heat is present. It makes it possible to dismantle screws and nuts even where they have been very hot.
Disc brakes do get very hot. It would be entirely clever to use at everything around the brakes, including wheel nuts/studs!

just don't get it in the brake fluid, would be my only concern.

Coppa slip at the back of the brake pads will indeed cut down or eliminate squeal.

as for the clever lad who put the brake pads in the wrong way around, he is certainly not alone. People can be really inventive!!

They say----an anode, or negative (–) electrode and the other the cathode or positive (+)

But surely an ANODE is a POSITIVELY charged electrode.----

I could never get my head around a - times a - is a + ! I am positive about that. I always hated maths and physics. Loved metalwork though!
