Wheel Cap Centre Change
As Jordon started the thread to find out the size he needed to exchange his wheel cap centres, and I had done some before and was about to do some more I thought I would post how I did them here.
Remove the wheel caps from the car in my case from MGZT 11's 1 Once removed get them in a bowl of soapy water or in the kitchen sink if you are allowed and clean them. 2 Tooth brush and scouring pad are good to use 3 Now you have them clean dry them off with paper towel etc and remember to put the tooth brush back before the person knows you have used it. 4 Now they are dry take them to your work area in my case PC desk 5 Tool for the job hair drier wife's (ask or else) use your own if you have long hair, I had to ask because I am bald Stanley knife and an L shaped prong 6 Using the drier on low warm up the face of the badge and the rear quickly. 7 You should now be able to get the Stanley/craft knife blade just under the edge of the badge insert on the cap it's self. 8 Work your way round the badge slowly watching your fingers do not slip. 9 The insert of the wheel cap ie the badge should come away easy. 10 Do all four or five depending on how many you have 11 I am replacing mine with the carbon fibre centre cap badges. 12 Next using the L shaped prong clean all inner edges and area of any debris left behind from the old centres. 13 Start to peel the backing off the new centres ready for fitting. 14 now quickly warm up the cap face with the drier not to much just enough to make the old glue tacky. 15 Peel the rest of the backing off the new centre and set it into the cap 16 Press from the middle outwards with a clean cloth 17 Make sure the edges are fully pressed down using the back of the prong. 18 You can now remove the protecting cover from the badge insert 19 20 proceed doing the rest until all the caps are done 21 Next job is to seal them with a couple of coats of clear lacquer, allowing at least an hour between each coat. 22 Once lacquered and hardened off a good coat of wax and they can be fitted to your wheels job done Arctic 23 The set I did last year
