That's the spirit Martin,
Hopefully a corner has been turned, positively, for yourself, your licence and your car. Best Wishes Mike

As you say, it might have been due to an ear infection. Let’s all hope for you that you have broken it down now.

Well for the last two weeks now i've been fine , and the GP seemed happy, today involved a far bit of bending down, unbolting seats, and i didnt feel giddy at all, obviously i'm being careful, and getting up slowly, not making sudden movements, and its helping, i;m still doing the exercises meant to help prevent the onset, in the first place.

For a few months I couldn’t hear properly and needed steroids ear drops with antibiotics. If I bent down I would become dizzy. After 3 months the ear drums healed and everything returned to normal. I stopped driving until the dizziness stopped. I am hoping your improvement continues. Do take care. |

It was all going to fine, yes, i've had a relapse, i had another bout of vertigo sunday and monday, this time whilst walking the dog, luckily not so severe, but i ended up back at the surgery today, saw a different GP, and this one says he's sure its Minieres and and he's put me on medication, now for he bombshell, he has advised me that i shouldnt drive at all, certainly until i have seen the specialist, because of the nature of the way the condition impacts, so thats a 48 week wait until the specialist can see me, i spoke with a nice lady at DVLA, who said, that i should surrender my licence she sending out the form for me to fill in, and return with my licence,But since then, i have downloaded another form, as recomended by a body that supports Meniere's sufferers, and reading that, as long as i am taking medication, and have sufficient warning of an attack, that i could stop my car safely, which i think i can, theres every chance i can continue to drive,

Hi Martin.. Sorry to hear you have had a step backwards. If you can afford it, make an appointment with a private hospital to have a test. It cost us £150.00 for instant satisfaction.Better than handing your licence over straight away.

Hi Martin,
Very sorry to hear the latest development; I fear you may be in a catch 22 situation. You might want to look again at my post no. 7. If you can find any reason (as you may already have done) to hold onto your licence; then give that your full consideration. Getting a medically revoked licence re-issued, is very time consuming. Regards Mike

That sounds better.
Yes it was wording about if medication has controlled / eliminated your condition then the statutory off road period need not apply that I had read, albeit nearly 12 months ago, and that I was eluding to. Of course, these forms do get changed, hence you can't rely upon someone else's past experience. I do hope that you can hold on to your licence. Regards Mike
