Which belt snapped tha large aux belt (power steering alternator etc) or the smaller aircon belt, the belt is easy enough to do diy I've done 3 now all you need is a trolley jack, axle stands, block of wood, socket for drivers side engine mount 8mm socket for power steering reseivour and hose, and I think a 24 mm spanner took me about an hour and that was including changing power steering pump

Honestly it is simple, if you were closer I'd have done the belt for you so you could drive the car at least

Ask your mate: why? Are the springs broken? Are the shock absorbers leaking fluid? If the answer is no and no, you're wasting your money before the MOT.

So if he's not charging labour then give him the drivebelt and ABS sensor and the bill should be £0. Then put it in for the MOT and see what happens. Don't waste your money on questionable repairs Daniel. Simon

£210 for labour is deinitely NOT mates rates. Is he a good mate? Or is he using you as a friendly bank. I'd get some different quotes if i was you just so you have something to compare.
