It's on my list, so far I've got switches and looms, but not elements. They are about £40 each and you need 4 of them.

I have found these http://www.waeco.co.uk/shop/details....&s=12&i=&p=309 which work out to £40 for all four......

Erm, mine must be faulty as they cool down and come back up on to temperature as long as you leave them switched on,
which with Dodo in this weather means she never switches hers off!

Russ
Hi Russ,
I'd be very wary of running the heated seats before the engine is started, e.g. with the parking heater for 10-30 mins. before getting in, as the electrical heaters will drain the battery quite a lot*. (This is why the parking heater switches off after 30 minutes regardless). You might find yourself in mid-Winter with a hot car that will not start. If you keep it on a trickle charger every night it might be OK.

* Taking the after-market heater elements found above as an example:-
2 seats @ 45W each = 90 W = 90/12 A
= 7.5A and
if they are kept on for 30 mins. = 3.75Ah

As a comparison, they are almost equivalent to leaving your headlights on.

IHTH,
Kearton

Thanks Kearton, yes, that's quite a drain on the battery if you left them on for 30 mins.(on top of that for the parking heater)
You'd probably only want them on for 5 mins, towards the end of whatever time the parking heater was set for.
I suppose it could be done, with another couple of timer circuits and relay(s) but to be honest, I think that it could end up getting a bit too complex.

Don't think I'll be having a go at that, but you never know someone else may want to attempt it.

I have read in my Rover acessories book that the heated seats have 2 settings - could this be why people get different results when switching on ?

Can find no other mention of 2 settings in manual or Haynes, does anyone know how to adjust ?

Handbook is vague and poss incorrect . "When operating, the heating elements in the seat will function intermittently in order to reach and then maintain a temperature within a predetermined range of 33c to 45c"

Mine come on, get warm, go off.... don't come back on again unless ign is reset
