Phil..
If I was you I would fit the Ivox CD80, it sounds better than the VDO unit and its a straight swap. The Ivox is well known for a couple of faults, [loss of memory and jammed CD's] but this does not effect all the units, many owners have found them reliable. Dave T |

Will this be compatible with the cd changer in the boot? It may be an optical illusion but the radio itself looks smaller than normal? Will I need a new facia? Also the fact I have smartnav won't effect anything will it?

Smartnav will not be affected, its nothing to do with the radio.
As for the changer being compatable with the Ivox, the answer is I don't know. The MG Rover VDO unit is priced about the same as a new Ivox about £280, not worth it in my opinion. You could wait and see if one comes up on Ebay. The two radios, the Ivox and the VDO have the same size fascia. I refer back to my original recomendation, a Symphony and a compatable CD changer.. the vdo (if thats the one in my pic) is slighly smaller thans standard din hence the facia staying with it you cant put a standard din into it i have tried
i find hte cd80 was better than the tape version but hte cd version has more power and sounded better , in my car that is but the 05 plates speakers are no where near as good as the 01 plates maybe project drived i found hte Symphony to be not as good as i thought so if you do get one make sure you get the sle upgrade chip then its a rather nice unit

The dealer will be paying for this so I don't know if they will be prepared to pay for a symphony and multichanger. I didn't know the speaker quality had been changed.
