Dam I live near Poole

Don't really fancy taking it to an auto electrician as to be brutally honest I bet they would charge more than the car is worth just to have a look

Really need to diagnose the rear demister, climate control and central locking

Have been forwarded a couple of names of members who might be able to help

Marc; you have been given free help in this thread, now you will need to put in some effort yourself. You won't win many friends in an enthusiasts' club by talking about breaking up a car because you're getting frustrated at the lack of a quick solution.

If everyone thought like that there would be no classic cars left! "So what" if it costs you more than the low financial value of your car? It's real value exceeds the majority of the vehicles on the road, so you've got a cracking car for way below the market value of an equivalent, if there was such a thing.

I recommend that you contact club member Phil-T4 who will be only too pleased to come to your house and diagnose your faults for a lot less than you might be imagining.

You're right I was being petulant, my apologies

Long day at work and my frustration of not understanding this new fangled wiring system got the better of me

I have spent a little time tonight trying to diagnose the K Bus fault and I believe I've found the right connector for diagnosing but I can't get any voltage on any of the pins

The connector is located above the BCU

I am looking for dc voltage between the wires and body am I doing something wrong?

Deleted as this is a traffic master and not Sat nav unit

I'm not sure what that connector is Marc. I have, though, found something which might help you. The K-bus connection appears to be direct between the BCU and the ATC ECU (Air Temperature Control, i.e. Climate Control). Strangely it is a pink wire and not a white/red/yellow as expected. It runs from pin 18 on the BCU's 18 pin connector to pin 6 on the ATC ECU's 8 pin connector.

If you need to get to the back of the ATC ECU, Haynes has instructions (I found them useful myself when recently gaining access to my airbag ECU).

Ah, as luck would have it that is indeed a K-bus distribution "header" as MGR calls them. It appears to connect the BCU with virtually everything on the car ... except the ATC ECU! Pin 4 is the wire which goes from that "header" to the BCU.

When testing for voltage, have you got the ignition key in at least the auxiliary position?

I have tried testing with two multimeters and with the ignition switch off, accessory 1 and accessory 2. But no voltage is present on any wire

Very perplexing and I'm probably doing something wrong

But I feel I'm starting to get a grasp of this new fangled wiring 😁

What provides the 12v K Bus voltage/signal? Or is it multiple ecu's?
