Something I forgot to say, is about the actual lamps!

Apparently, most are good for 2-3000 hours of viewing and then you need to replace it. Many cost several hundred pounds! Using it as your main viewing hardware means it wouldn't last 'that' long.

Yes, the lamps are a bit of a cost - although I try not to watch too much telly - but I know what you mean

I would agree with the Samsung comments regarding Styling & Screen Technology, the one area that they do not compare with Sony or Panasonic is Sound quality.
I would recommend you go & listen to them, particularly if you want to turn up the volume.

Sound is not a big issue being 'hearing impaired' as they say...

Right, I plumped for the Toshiba. It may not be quite so good as the Samsung but it doesn't have question marks hanging over the LCD screen whose spec appears to have changed between reviewers getting their mits on it and the general public buying it! Also, no question marks over customer service....shame about the rather rubbishy remote control though.....still, I can just stick it on my all-in-one..

Thanks to all..especially Kandyman for finding that gem! It'll match the littler one upstairs!

Nice one Zeb,

Just don't blame me if it's rubbish

I would like to get a new TV for upstairs but the wife thinks a 42" is to big for the bedroom
