Thanks, I've been thinking about fitting roof rails but, I rather like the clean look it has without them.

Well, I thought about it, and I went and got a pair. They arrived yesterday and I've now fitted them.

Also given the alloys a quick blow over with some silver and laquer. They were just so awful I had to do something. My plan is new wheels when fund permit.

Thanks Derek. I don't think it will ever be as good as the blue one but it's coming along.

I have just finished giving it a bit of TLC: Tar removal, polish with Megs #205 and a coat of Prima Banana Gloss Wax. Mmm, shiny.

Default More work completed

A few more jobs have been completed today. Many thanks to Derek Osborne for the chrome bullet mirrors; picked up on Friday at the Largs meet. Polished and fitted today:

I also bought a pair of replacement badge insets on Ebay recently as the old ones had de-laminated quite badly. I decided to go for the carbon-fibre look ones:

Not an exact fit but much better than the old ones which were a mess.

Finally, I have re-sprayed the rusty wiper arms. I thought I had some satin black paint but it turned out to be matt, so I gave them a couple of coats of laquer, they match the finish on the new Bosch wiper blades exactly.

Glad to see the mirrors going to a good home Tim and I knew if anyone could get them looking the part it would be you!

Cars looking really nice.

Thanks Derek, I never cease to be amazed how well these cars scrub up, even after fairly serious neglect. The mirrors didn't take a lot of work to get them to a good standard. In fact, the mechanisms are better than the ones I took off which had become a tad sluggish.

I had the front bumper off this weekend and decided to use up a couple of off-cuts of woven stainless mesh to compliment the messing about with black vinyl:

Next job, my cam cover gasket needs replacing as it's weeping a bit. Probably give it to the garage to do as the cost of parts / tools will be bigger than a garage bill.

Default Oops!

And 4 weeks later, this happened:

Garage 1, MG Nil . A bit beyond my SMART repair skills. Tam (Rotrex) has a bumper and wing waiting for me, but I seriously doubt they'll be painted in time for SARR.

I'm going to try a body shop local to me in Garelochhead. If the results are good, I'll post up some details.
