I have read up on various forums and many people are asking the same question - "should I buy A7RII or A6500" and the answer is undecided. Both are good and excel at different things. The A6500 is a lot less expensive.

I found this video on the subject which again does not really give a decisive answer.

Thanks again Paul,

I watched the youtube link review this morning and found it interesting and useful. Thank you for including it. If I was a professional, I would go full frame but as this is a hobby, I will stick with the A6500. I hope I won't regret my decision, or will I wait until June/July for another model launch. How naughty of Sony to tease. The pathway and expense of rebuilding the collection of good lenses is also an important consideration. Thank you for you insights and help

Well said Phil. Lens selection is worth paying a lot of attention particularly the longer focal lengths. New lenses arrive regularly and Sigma are working on E mount lenses at the moment so things will only get better

This 30mm will be first on my list. It is relatively recent so I do not have it yet but I think it should be first one to buy for E mount users. A no brainer as they say.

I hope you like it Phil

The kit zoom 16-50 is ok for video (just) but mine stays in the cupboard most of the time. So unless you really want it I would give it a miss.

When I get A6500 later I have a long list of lenses I am contemplating.
I need a 2 or 3 zooms for general walkabout stuff.

I will also look at 2 or 3 primes with wide apertures, f 1.8 or below.

as you say, what fun.

Edit: The sensor in the A6500 is very much like the one in my A6000 so the quality of the pics should be as good as mine if not a little better.

Edit:Edit I am already splashing out, did anyone notice the new stick?
