Get yourself a portable 240 volt heater of about 2 kw. Run a cable from a mains socket (on a timer) to the car. Put the heater on the front passenger floor so that the hot air comes up past the seat towards the interior and plug in.

best way of doing it. Works on ice inside car down to -25C (probably more but I haven´t tried)

Set the timer for about 30 mins before departure. When you come out in the morning the car is hot inside and all you have to do is disconnect the cable and your off. Make sure you don´t put the heater on in the car (that will cool the inside instead of heating it) Wait till the engine is hot... and then on with the heater if need be.

Of course you could always put on of these on the back seat.....

Tried the 2 litre coke bottles filled with hot water idea in Gill's MX5 this morning. One sat on the drivers seat which tbh didn't do a lot. But the one sat on the dash cleared the window above it, so I reckon three across the dash would work! Left them for half an hour and then used the lukewarm water to clear what was left

You have to attach a hook at each corner and maybe an extra one on the edges. The front centre hooks under the grill or under the front bumper if you have enough bungee string. The top centre attaches to the top centre of the rear sheet. That attaches in similar way to the front. Only takes a few minutes to fit, but you need practice. The first few goes will get you into a tizwaz

This sort of thing is okay. Depends on how cold it gets. Over here what usually happens is that the cover freezes and can be difficult to get off. Biggest prob though is that it is still very cold inside the car so when you get in your own production of -steam- from breathing etc hits the inside of the windscreen and you get ice on the inside.
No, best way is to heat the car up as I´ve described and run the motor with the heater off till the motor is warm.
