Well if it's BL you want, theres a lovely restored dolomite sprint on eBay at the moment for £6500......If it was BRG or inca yellow I would be sorely tempted.....

Well that was a nickname because it was considered half a car! The engine was a 4,4 litre V8 which I believe was developed locally and based on the Rover V8. The engine was used by many people as a replacement engine in the Stag.

The "Project 76" was not a bad car but it did suffer from lack of development investment and quality problems at a time where the labour market was subject to many strike actions and general unrest.

From memory there was a 2 door coupe version called the "Force 7" as in wind strength. I believe most prototypes were crushed however I believe a handful made it through.

From memory the Powerhouse museum in Sydney used to have one on display. There was article in the Drive section of the Melbourne newspaper "The Age" recently. I imagine there is a club for them and one place to look is the magazine Unique Cars which has a web version.

Have look on gumtree.com.au and you will see it and several parts ads. I shouldvhave also said earlier that there were 2 engines, a straight 6 or a v8.

Best of luck.

That's one bad-ass car.

Cool

"on request"?

Phil, if you are serious about this I suggest you contact people who have imported from Australia to UK before to find out what is involved and especially registration requirments. I know that in Australia the import regulations are tough for newer cars but easier on older cars.

If I were in your shoes I'd get the 4.4v8. Lots of power!

Looked at the ad and realised what your question is. They don't want to put a price on but rather lure you into discussions. Like POA "Price on Application".

Another option for you is to try a "wanted" ad as I am sure there would be quite a few of these sitting in peoples garages, I don't know which sites now allow this and I'm not sure if you would have troubles placing one from the UK.

FYI, the main sites for cars in Australia are:

www.carsales.com.au
www.tradingpost.com.au
www.ebay.com.au
www.gumtree.com.au
www.autotrader.com.au
www.drive.com.au
www.carsguide.com.au
www.uniquecarsmag.com.au - For the old unique cars like this

You will find the same cars appearing in multiple sites.

There is also a specialist insurer in Australia called Shannons. They also have regular specialist auctions. Never know what comes up there.

Thanks for that. Yes I am serious, but for the future. I want to find out costs involved first to see if it is a goer.
