This time its a new engine for Dragrad as the crankshaft went, Clean shear and con-rods bent.
Not such a reliable Diesel Lump in the end for him. He was told it was due to over fuelling when accelerating which I find very, very hard to believe with the way I drive! Last edited by JohnDotCom; 17th September 2009 at 16:08.. |

Can I just point out to any new members reading this, that Dagrad's bad luck really is an isolated case. (Sorry Andrew I know this doesn't help you much)
I still stand by the reputation that the M47R engine is "bulletproof" more reliable in fact than it ever was in the BMW 3 series range. (they were tuned to 150 BHP with a Variable vane turbo which has a poor track record of turbo fins breaking off & getting ingested into the engine !!) Not the case with the 116 & 131 versions in the 75 ZT's

As nobody else seems to have had the same problems as I have had, it would appear that the bad luck could only be put down to the one chance in a million that always happens to me!!! Probably why I, for some illogical reason, still have "faith" in the car doing it's Phoenix bit

Hi Andrew, I am really glad you have your car running again, lets hope the bad luck stops now, as you have certainly had far more than your share of it..
