I promised some time ago to post some photos on this project so here they are.
http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=5~original http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=4~original http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=3~original http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=2~original http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=1~original http://s263.photobucket.com/user/Jim...3&o=0~original The first two show the car with the bumper removed and showing the detachable stowed then in the working position. 4 & 5 show the same with the bumper fitted and the final shot shows the car coupled to my Coachman 520/4 ViP Photo 3 shows the underside view with the bar removed, blanking plug in place and 13 pin plug stowed in the concealed position. The final height of the tow ball is slightly higher giving a more level set up between car & caravan than previously when using the standard detachable on our diesel 75 As you can see it is a regular Witter tow bar but with the added Witter Quantum detachable fitted in place. I have also converted the wiring to 13 pin to suit the caravan. The caravan tows fine behind the V6 but obviously not as well as our more powerful Jaguar XF. bearing in mind the caravan is almost at the maximum weight for the 75. On a recent trip to Gretna I got 20.7 mpg with the 75 whereas when towing with the XF I can get upwards from 25 mpg. Later this summer we are going a longer trip using more motorway and I anticipate the fuel consumption will be better than 25 mpg Last edited by Jim Jamieson; 2nd September 2018 at 20:54.. With the Photobucket fiasco it left many forum posts without photos.
I’ve re introduced the photos to many of my topics by inserting ~original into the script but just noticed this topic was missed. I’ve carried out the same addition with the (~original ) and although the photos don’t seem to appear, if you click on each photo heading the photos appear. As for the towbar it is a type approved Witter bar for the 75 but has the addition of a Witter Quantum Vertical attachment. I have towed the caravan for approx 500 miles with no problems, however the car is now on SORN as I am now running another 75, this time a Connoisseur SE. I have decided at present not to transfer the towbar and keep my towing with the Merc CLS. |
