Thanks Harry for the info.

Curiously we had to make journey this morning, about 17miles each way. It was about -3degress outside, then it warmed to about zero degrees. Curiously on the way home the FBH turned off for a while at zero degrees. So I guess its not an exact science working out whe the FBH comes on and off, especially as you say the Engine temp from the diagnostics is useful, but not connected to the FBH.

So from what I have gathered there is the 'mushrrom' sensor for the +5degrees trigger and another within the FBH which detects the temp of the water, the internal FBH sensor must therefore override the 'mushroom' sensor.

Also .. my fault and a correction.... you can indeed hear the FBH pump running as mentioned when the car engine is also on. Although I couldnt hear it on the road, I got down beside the car when hime and listened at the rear wheel and could hear the pump clicking away.

..righ'o off to solder in the second resisitor...

Cheers again,

Rich.

Default Fbh

Just got my connie with fbh but it doesn't work.
Found out why now though, seems the fuel pump is missing from the front of the offside rear wheel.
Are these easy to find?

They rust, badly enough to rust through and leak.
I wouldn't buy a used one.
New, they're £45 on Ebay, search for "Webasto diesel heater pump".

Very easy to find, very reliable, but they are in a very exposed location and the casings rust through quickly. Your chances of finding a used one on a 75 and worth buying are almost nil.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Thanks for info guys.
Before i found out that the pump was missing i tried to fire the fbh up.
The casing got warm, fan was working, rubber inlet sucked in the air.
tried 3 goes then went into lockdown mode. Might work if i fit a pump ehh.

If the engine was cold and the FBH case got warm, the only heat source is the glowpin. If the glowpin gets warm it is a good indication that the FBH PCB is in working order, so if fed with diesel from the pump, the likelihood is that it would work.
