Its latest symptoms are all boots up ok . blue tooth connects, all menus ok , all the setups work ,
GPS doesn't even moan it can't find the SD card ( which is not there).. all sound barely audible at max setting.
then press GPS , reports no signal , switch GPS off & back to other mode.
then after few seconds the screen gradually goes brighter until
totally white then nothing works. have to reset to do it all again .

I've got all the info and have contacted the seller and the actual ebay shop he got it from came from .. so we see where we go from here..
twas only purchased on the 3rd June 2010. so not very old.

Has worked perfectly for a fortnight so so don't think it was faulty when I got it .
The guy who sold it says he will help me send it back under the original warranty..

Stop press .. minutes ago have just had reply from original the ebay seller who has asked me to do a few obvious things ( already done them !! ) before returning it ? to what should be a UK Address ?

so maybe ?????
here's hoping !

Chris

PS another Saga to keep readers interested ..

Well its gets better !! .

The blokes in China can't view my video due to censorship!! great! ..

So made 3 smaller ( still 10mb each ) and have emailed them seperately.

Will see if this works ? ...

Got a much better Freeview reception with one of Capese's Aerials..
Not perfect cos the signal round here.. but still actually got one outside the house , whereas normally nothing at all.

Seem the units problem is all centred around the GPS system, which I think is seperate from the rest of the system.
But that does not explain the audio disappearing down to a faint whisper ?

back soon

Chris

You are correct in saying that the multimedia and GPS are essentially separate parts.

I'm only guessing here but obviously the audio is common to both so it is possible that a fault on the GPS board could affect the multimedia audio.

I totally agree with Eamonn, if the sound is "muted" then it a problem with the GPS, when IGO say's a command it mutes the radio so you can "just" hear it in the background, and as you had a problem with loading IGO I would say that is the problem, I would suggest you download a copy of TomTom Version 6 and give that a try it "might" clear your problem

You may ALSO try a HARD reset by disconnecting the unit from power (Like pull your battery cable) for about 3-4 hours or overnight. This is standard procedure to clear caches and glitches.

But the GPS does not seem to check the SD card any more.. if the card is not inserted or the program was wrong before , the GPS used to pop up and complain !.. asking for the program path!

This doesn't happen any more , it was running IGO last time just before it decided to muck around, so Tomtom Would need a path edit ?.

Sorry Chris, I did not know it wasn't reading the card now, are you not able to go into the setup and see the storage card any more?
