Myfirstrover - I always thought the same, couldn't believe it when I rang through in response to a letter they sent me and the lady who'd written it actually answered the phone !!! It was her direct line shown on the paperwork, made life soooo much easier
Ratty - I'm following in your footsteps... Tonybubble - looks very smart, we certainly live in a throw-away society, great that you saved it though

Destruction notices are usually given to the presenter on being taken into the scrappy so
that the person scrapping the car has confirmation that he has legally disposed of the car. The breaker then has the right to take parts off the car for resale, which is why they are often not bailed immediately. (Our friendly local scrappy rings us when MG Rovers come in so we can go down for a parcel of bits before it is finally scrapped). One other point regarding scrapping and destruction notices, for anyone who may not be aware, if you want to take a personal plate off a car being scrapped, you need to get the plate transfer done before the Destruction Notice is issued, otherwise the DVLA will refuse to carry out the transfer. I had to check this with DVLA year before last when a customer's car was torched and we had to get her personal plate off for another vehicle. |

If it is to be broken up later, the 'Transferred to the Trade' procedure of the V5C should be followed to notify the DVLA that the vehicle has legally been transferred to the the scrap yard, they can then break it up at their leisure, and issue the C.O.D. when they do. |

Excellent work, it's great to see one of the early Tourers saved.
