Default backbox

hey guys i was checking my brakes today and noticed that the backbox has got a hole in it quite a big one. its only 4 weeks to m.o.t time can i get a replacement or does it have to be an aftermarket one? i also noticed that there are no joins in it will it be the original one? its a 2.5 160. can i get it fixed close to where i stay EH54

you could have a plate welded over the hole

Genuine boxes are quite pricey so may be worth trying your local tyre/exhaust specialist. I've just fitted a new box to my car & bought one of those handy chain pipe cutters & the whole job only took 20 mins, alternatively cut it with an angle grinder but I can tell you it normally hurts

thanks but the hole is at the back of the box where the pipe goes in.

anybody know what kind of price i am looking at for a stainless backbox fitted in Scotland.

Supply and fit custom made stainless backbox seems pretty standard across the country at around £150

If it's just to get throught the MOT then I'd just fill it and take your time sourcing one.

cheers but it does need changed so might as well just do it lol. if i wasn't checking the brakes then i would have never noticed lol. cant complain tho as its 9 years old.
